Located in northwestern New Jersey ~ about an hour west from NYC, or half an hour east of the PA border at the Delaware Water Gap-Pocono region; about 2 hours from Trenton, NJ; about 2.5 hours from Philadelphia.

At JanDal, you will find 4 Aby 'flavors': Ruddy, Red, Blue & Fawn.

I've been breeding Abys for about 30 years, always at this location. All our babies are raised underfoot - never caged or declawed - and live with me, my husband Dale, and two rescued 110-lb. German Shepherds. This is a closed cattery, meaning we have unrelated stud boys on premises and don't allow our girls to be sent out for stud service, nor do we take in other females to stud with our boys (mating is always done on the male's 'territory'). This eliminates the possibility for the spread of disease among cats thru that route.

All our adults cats have been tested for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV - also called Feline AIDS, which is unrelated to human AIDS) ~ and all are negative. Because this is a closed cattery, those diseases have no way to enter our environment. No roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, tapeworms, or ear mites here, either!

My name is Jan, and I'm the owner of JanDal and a veterinary technician with 15 years' experience in animal husbandry, so I know what it takes to keep animals healthy in a clean environment.

Because of our love of animals in general, and Abys in particular, we will not ship any animal under any circumstances. But we have met buyers at Newark Airport, as well as smaller local airports when they arrive in private planes, so the new owner can take their baby home in the passenger compartment of commercial airlines or in their own private aircraft.

Visitors are always welcome, but will need an appointment because of our crazy work schedules.

Feel free to contact Jan with any questions you may have ~~~ phone calls and emails will always be answered within a day or two, if not immediately.

Because Dale's the photographer, artist and webmaster in the family, we think you'll have fun at our website, which is updated every few months or so ... so when you need your next 'fur fix', see us at: www.abyssiniancats.net

Blue Abyssinian "Smokey"
Owner Brian Charikofsky

His newest trick is to stalk people from the bathroom sink. As a "victim" walks by, he pounces on the unsuspecting prey and then runs under the bed to stalk from there.
